It’s really a good idea to make sure you put a bit of imagination back into your dating life and that means doing something fun. The effort put into a picnic says a lot about how you care for the object of your affection. It’s also May so an ideal time to start thinking about heading outdoors, but you’ll want all the right kit to make it a success. Delicious food and chilled drinks are essential, as is something to sit on.

London

Kyoto Garden – Holland Park

This hidden gem is beautifully located for you to pop into Wholefoods, Marks and Spencer or Waitrose on Kensington High Street, pick up everything delicious your heart desires before taking a short walk into the park at the side of The Design Museum at the end of the high street.

Royal Botanic Gardens – Kew

Be smart and book entrance tickets online, print them and bypass the waiting line of people and stroll right in. Taking a lovely picnic will ensure you don’t have to join any other queues at the Orangery and you can set up anywhere you like. Go now and see the Chihuly sculptures they are sensational.

Primrose Hill

From where the dogs barked in 101 Dalmatians you can appreciate the vista that is London from this quintessential spot. Pop into The Bottle Apostle on Regents Park Road in Primrose Hill village for a fabulous array of wine and fizz to suit the occasion.

Pique Picnics

To help you organise the perfect al fresco date, I am pleased to recommend Pique Picnics, London based gourmet picnichamper service. As well as picnics, Pique also specialises in drinks party catering and can provide all staff required. I’ve heard their scotch eggs are to die for!

New York

Brooklyn Bridge Park

This really does have one of the best views of Manhattan, so my recommendation is to check out the sunset time, make sure you have something to stay warm, and cosy up to each other take in that incredible sunset view of the city. Alcohol is not allowed in the park, so be discreet!

Fort Tryon Park

This spot is about seclusion and commanding views, definitely worth the uber ride out there, but make sure you have everything before you go. Don’t forget that bottle opener! This does not have the city crowds, so you’ll feel like you’ve slipped into the countryside.
