One of the questions our prospective clients often ask us is what happens if an introduction simply doesn’t feel right. It’s an entirely natural question, and one that offers an opportunity to explain further how our matchmaking process works in practice.
Choosing to work with a professional matchmaker is an investment of your trust and time in our expertise. While no responsible matchmaker can guarantee chemistry between two people before they meet, every Maclynn introduction is carefully considered to offer the very best chance of success, drawing on our proprietary psychology-based methodology.
Below, you will find more information on how we navigate that process alongside you, empowering you to shape your own journey supported by the guidance and discernment of your matchmaker.
What Does the Match Introductions Process Look Like?
As your journey with Maclynn begins, you’ll embark on our bespoke 5-step methodology through which your dedicated matchmaker will explore who you are and what your goals look like. You can read more about these steps and everything that goes into making a match here.
With this information, your matchmaker will begin their search for compatible connections. Every introduction at Maclynn is carefully considered and hand-selected, and the match introduction process is usually as follows:
- When we identify a potential match, we first approach the individual to assess their suitability further. If they are open to exploring the opportunity, they will meet with your matchmaker.
- In an initial conversation, your matchmaker will gain a deeper understanding of who they are and evaluate compatibility beyond surface-level preferences.
- Following this, your matchmaker will share a little more information and some photographs with both sides of the match. If both individuals are interested in meeting one another, we proceed with an introduction.
- The introduction involves exchanging phone numbers and supporting the organisation of the date, whether in person or via video call.
- Following the introduction, we gather feedback from both individuals and continue to provide guidance and support.

Do I Have to Accept Every Introduction?
Each step of your Maclynn membership is designed to be collaborative and empowering. This means that no, you are never bound to accept every introduction we make; there is always room for discussion and nuance.
Importantly, these are not blind dates. Our process puts you in control, allowing you to make an informed decision while supported by the guidance of your matchmaker.
Their role is to present thoughtful introductions based on everything they have learned about you, explain why they believe there could be potential and, at times, encourage you to consider someone you might not immediately have encountered yourself. Sometimes, the best match isn’t someone who ticks every box on paper but someone whose character and outlook complement yours in meaningful ways.
Your role is to remain curious and open to possibility while being honest about what feels right for you, and letting us know any concerns about a proposed match. From here, your matchmaker will professionally and discreetly manage the rest, refining their approach where required.

“We work collaboratively with our clients, explaining our recommendations and encouraging them to remain open-minded throughout the process. We never ignore their preferences, but we do challenge assumptions where appropriate if we believe it could lead to a stronger, more fulfilling relationship.”
What If I Meet Someone but Don’t Feel a Connection?
If you decide to move forward with an introduction during your membership, but ultimately feel that it is not the right fit, your matchmaker will support you through this.
Two people can appear highly compatible and still not feel a romantic connection when they meet. Authentic attraction is personal and impossible to manufacture, which is why it’s entirely natural for clients to be introduced to more than one carefully considered match before a meaningful connection begins to develop.
After the initial introductions and dates, your matchmaker will sensitively collect and deliver feedback from both sides. During this period, they will provide coaching and guidance to help you reflect on your experience and the match potential.
If you leave your first date without the ‘fireworks’ or ‘spark’ you were hoping for, but enjoyed the conversation, felt comfortable in their company, or found yourself curious to learn more, your matchmaker may encourage you to consider another meeting to allow space for the connection to develop. To learn more about the psychology and research behind this, we would recommend reading our article on the Maclynn 30-Hour Rule™.
Equally, there may be occasions when you know that the connection simply isn’t there. That, too, is valuable information which can guide the next step forward on your journey. In these cases, our purpose is to help you understand your response and move forward with intention and purpose.

Why Every Introduction Is Valuable to the Process
An introduction which doesn’t progress further than a first or second date can still reveal valuable insight as your membership continues.
Although our profiling process gives your matchmaker a well-developed understanding of your personality, values, relationship history, lifestyle, aspirations and the qualities you seek in a partner, there are subtleties which may only become apparent through real-life experience.
These observations needn’t be viewed as a failure. Rather, they provide another layer of insight which can inform what comes next, taking your matchmaker ever closer to identifying your ultimate match. They will revisit your experiences with you, identify patterns or themes, and explore what can be learned to work towards the same objective: helping you build a meaningful, fulfilling relationship.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a limit to how many matches you make for clients?
No, there is no maximum number of matches we will make within the duration of your membership. While each membership includes a tailored guaranteed minimum number of introductions, there is no upper limit.
How long does the matchmaking process typically take?
This varies from person to person, as every journey is unique. While some clients might pause their membership to explore potential with someone after only a few dates, others may find the process takes slightly longer. Your matchmaker will support you through the entire journey to ensure you get exactly what you need at every step.
Can what I’m looking for change during my membership?
Developing greater clarity about what you are seeking can be one of the most valuable outcomes of partnering with a professional matchmaking agency. Our approach is designed to accommodate this; your matchmaker will continue to listen and refine their understanding of you and your goals throughout your membership.
Will my feedback be shared with my match?
Your feedback is always handled with sensitivity and discretion. While your matchmaker may share constructive insights, personal comments are treated confidentially and will never simply be relayed word for word. The purpose of feedback is always to better understand your experience and support both individuals thoughtfully.
