Open Membership Terms & Conditions
These Terms explain how Maclynn’s Open Membership works, what you can expect from us, and what we ask of you as a Member. Please read them alongside your Open Membership registration form and our Privacy Policy.
1. About your Open Membership
Certain words and expressions have specific meanings in this Agreement. These are defined in these Terms or in your Open Membership registration form.
This Agreement is between Vida Consultancy Ltd (UK company registered number 07671741), trading as “Maclynn” and the individual identified in the Open Membership registration form (“you”/“your”). Our registered office address in the UK is as follows: 16 Berkeley Street, Mayfair, London, United Kingdom, W1J 8DZ.
In these Terms, “Maclynn”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Vida Consultancy Ltd and all affiliated companies operating under the Maclynn brand worldwide, together with their respective employees, directors, authorised contractors and consultants.
Maclynn has two variations of Membership: (a) Open Membership (“Open Member Network” has a corresponding meaning) and (b) Private Membership. Both membership types are by invitation only.
For clarity, the Memberships can be summarised as follows:
- Open Membership: This involves access to potential Introductions with Private Members; there is no dedicated matchmaker and no guarantee of Introductions.
- Private Membership: This is a paid subscription service with a dedicated expert matchmaker and tailored one-to-one consultancy.
Our Agreement with you comprises: (a) the Open Membership registration form; (b) these Terms & Conditions. We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make a material change that affects your Membership, we will let you know. The latest version is available via our website as follows : https://maclynninternational.com/open-membership-terms-conditions/ or a copy can be provided on request.
These Terms and Conditions apply to Open Members only. Private Members are governed by a separate agreement.
Your Membership is personal to you and may not be assigned.

Maclynn’s service is built on trust, respect and a shared intention amongst our Members to find a committed relationship. You confirm that you are single (or officially separated from your partner), seeking a committed long-term relationship, are aged 21 or over, have no criminal convictions (including spent or historic convictions), no pending criminal charges, proceedings or police led investigations, and all information and images you provide are accurate, complete and up to date. You must also tell us about anything that would reasonably be considered significant for matchmaking purposes, such as dependent children, bankruptcy or health issues.
To ensure a positive experience for everyone, you agree to follow the commitments below:
(a) Respect & courtesy – Treat every Member and Maclynn colleague with respect. Harassment, aggression, intimidation, hate speech, or discrimination are strictly prohibited. You must not knowingly or recklessly make false or malicious statements about Maclynn or any Member.
(b) Confidential Information & Discretion – You must keep confidential any information you receive about another Member through Maclynn, including their identity, photographs, personal information and the fact that they use or have used Maclynn’s services. You must not disclose, publish or share this information with the press, on social media or on any other public or semi-public platform, or share screenshots, correspondence or other material relating to another Member without their express permission. You must also take reasonable care not to disclose information that could indirectly identify them. These obligations continue after your Membership ends.
(c) Engagement & reliability – When you agree to an Introduction, arrive on time and approach the meeting respectfully. You should respond to Maclynn follow-ups promptly and provide thorough and respectful feedback after Introductions.
(d) Boundaries & safety – Respect other Members’ personal boundaries and communicate your own clearly. Take reasonable precautions in all interactions, particularly before meeting in person. Please also read our Dating Safety Guide, which contains practical guidance to help you date safely.
(e) Non-commercial use – Use the service solely for genuine personal dating. You must not solicit, advertise, promote products or services, or harvest data for commercial or research purposes.
(f) Integrity – You must not impersonate anyone, create duplicate or fictitious profiles, or otherwise misrepresent yourself.
(g) Lawful use – Comply with all applicable laws and regulations when using the service.
(h) Photographs & materials – Only supply photographs or other material that you own, or that you have the copyright holder’s written permission to use for this purpose.
A breach of these commitments is a serious matter and may result in suspension or termination of your Membership under clause 5.
4. What you can expect from us
While your Membership is active, we may consider you as a potential Match for Private Members based on your Parameters. As an Open Member, there is no guarantee of any Introduction.
All Introductions will be personally facilitated by a matchmaker, and you will have the opportunity to have a discussion with a matchmaker both before and after the Introduction takes place. There is no obligation to agree to Introductions we propose.
We may use your Details to present a Summary to potential Matches.
If you subscribe to our newsletter, we will send you details of events, products, and services that may support your dating journey. We will send marketing communications only with your consent, and you can unsubscribe at any time by clicking ‘Unsubscribe’ on the newsletter or emailing us at info@maclynninternational.com.
5. Pausing, suspending or ending your membership
Pausing your Membership
You may ask us to pause your Open Membership at any time, including if you begin dating someone exclusively or simply wish to take a break from matchmaking. Once we receive your request, we will normally remove your profile from active matchmaking within five working days. We will keep your profile on our records in a dormant status so that, if appropriate, you can ask to reactivate your Membership at a later date.
Suspension by Maclynn
We may temporarily suspend your Membership if we reasonably believe that you may have breached this Agreement, we need time to consider a concern or complaint relating to your conduct, or we have been unable to contact you for a reasonable period and need to confirm that you still wish to remain an active Open Member. While your Membership is suspended, your profile will not be considered for new Introductions.
Reviewing a suspension
Where we suspend your Membership because of a concern or suspected breach, we will review the circumstances fairly and may ask you for further information. Once our review is complete, we may reactivate your Membership, continue the suspension for a reasonable period where further information is required, or end your Membership. Where appropriate, we will explain our decision to you in writing.
Ending your Membership by Maclynn
We may end your Membership if we reasonably believe that you have materially breached these Terms, including the shared commitments in clause 3, or where continuing your Membership would not be appropriate for the safety, privacy or integrity of the Maclynn network. Depending on the circumstances, we may end your Membership immediately. We are not required to offer an Introduction before ending your Membership.
Asking us to review a decision
If we suspend or end your Membership following a concern about your conduct, you may ask us to review the decision by contacting us in writing within 14 days of being notified. We will consider any information you provide and let you know the outcome of the review. The review does not automatically reinstate your Membership while it is being considered.
Ending your Membership yourself
You may end your Open Membership at any time by contacting us in writing or by email to info@maclynninternational.com. Following termination, we will delete or anonymise your personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable data protection law, except where we are legally required or otherwise permitted to retain it.
6. Safety and the limits on our responsibility
Maclynn accepts personal details provided by Members in good faith and relies on Members to update relevant information. We do not conduct background checks on Members including DBS, criminal or financial checks. We cannot be responsible for any details regarding Members which are not correct or up to date, or for any undisclosed issues such as criminal convictions.
Maclynn is not responsible for your interaction with other Members or for the conduct or actions of any Member. We do not conduct clinical psychological assessments and offer no assurances in relation to such matters.
You must always take sensible precautions before agreeing to meet with another Member, including arranging any meeting in a public place, telling a friend or family member where you are going and not providing your personal information until you are comfortable doing so.
You shall be responsible for and remain responsible throughout the term of this Agreement and for a period of 3 years following termination, for reimbursing Maclynn in relation to any losses, damages, liability, costs (including legal fees) and expenses incurred by Maclynn as a result of or in connection with your material breach of any of your obligations under this Agreement.
7. Privacy and confidentiality
We take your privacy seriously and will process and protect your Personal Data in accordance with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. You consent to Maclynn processing your personal information for the purpose of providing the Services, communicating with you and for marketing, statutory and accounting purposes. We may disclose your Personal Data to our employees, consultants, agents and affiliates to the extent necessary to provide the Services. You accept that in order for us to provide the Services we may share your Personal Data to our network of consultants around the world. In all such cases, we impose strict obligations of confidentiality. For further information, please refer to our Privacy Policy.
8. If you have a concern
We aim to resolve concerns quickly and professionally. Please email your complaint to the following address: info@maclynninternational.com. We will acknowledge your complaint within five business days and aim to resolve the issues within 28 days.
9. Other legal terms
No failure or delay by either party in exercising any right under this Agreement shall operate as a waiver of that right. If any provision of this Agreement is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to have full force.
This Agreement is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction in relation to any disputes.
