Who doesn’t love a romantic beach? It’s a bit hard to get truly romantic if you’re sauntering past a row of one hundred sun loungers, or you arrive at a beach that looks like a bird colony only it’s people and towels. If you really want to get away to somewhere secluded and romantic, it does take a bit of effort but it’s worth it in the end. Be imaginative and make the journey, you won’t regret it. The best beaches are awaiting your well-informed towel.
Menorca
Often overlooked because of her glamorous neighbour Ibiza, but if you want to experience secluded beaches this is definitely a destination to keep in mind. For pure turquoise water head to Cala Turqueta where the snorkelling is wonderful and the white sandy beach a total dream.
Greece
Not somewhere everyone goes, so perfect for adding a little surprise the romantic summer trip. The all-suite hotel of Olea is designed for seclusion with your own pool. But if you can tear yourself away for a day from your incredible view and private pool for a beach adventure, then head to Shipwreck Beach which can only be reached by boat. Concierge can sort out the boat. Porto Vromi is little white pebbles and deep clear water, as well as a jump off point for boats, so perhaps combine both in one day. Mama Mia it’s magnificent.
